Snowdon Deli

Côte-des-Neiges - Notre-Dame-de-Grâce · 5265 Bd Décarie, Montréal, QC H3W 3C2, Canada

A local favourite that has been serving some of the city's most consistent and tender smoked meat since 1946.

Snowdon Deli, Côte-des-Neiges - Notre-Dame-de-Grâce

Montreal smoked meat is the city's answer to New York pastrami, but with its own identity. Beef brisket is cured in a spice blend heavy on pepper, coriander, and garlic, then smoked low and slow and steamed before serving. The standard order is a smoked meat sandwich on rye bread with yellow mustard. Ask for it medium-fat for the best flavour. Schwartz's on Saint-Laurent has been the benchmark since 1928 and the line is part of the experience. But Montreal has several other delis that deserve equal attention, some with no line at all and arguably better sandwiches.
